As we all
know that the Windows 8 OS was mainly developed keeping in mind to use it with
a touch screen device. However each one of us uses passwords in order to
protect stuff on your device. But as per my experience, I find it tedious to
enter a long password on a touch screen device.
So today we
are going to discuss that how you can use a PIN instead of a long password to
access your Windows 8 device. I consider a 4 digit PIN better to enter in a
touch screen device instead of a long 15 digit password.
NOTE: Though using PINs on a touch screen device is easy but
still an “Alphanumeric” password is
always considered a better approach.
CREATING A PIN
So let us start with creating a PIN first. Bring up the settings
panel using the Win + I combination. Then click on the PC settings option. This
will lead you to Modern UI PC settings app where you are required to select
Users section.
There you will find a Create a PIN option on the right hand
side of the screen. Select and you will be asked to verify your ownership of
the device by entering your User account password. Then you will be taken to
the PIN creating window where you can choose a pin of your choice.
That’s it and you are good to go. After this whenever you get
to the login screen you will have the option to use a PIN instead of using a
password.
